A coordinated workshop series is included as a key component of both academic year Undergraduate Research Program and the Bridge Program. The workshop series is designed for, and open to, all Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics majors and faculty. Students who participated in the previous summer’s undergraduate research program and bridge students are required to attend. Workshops are offered monthly, and each workshop focuses on a particular topic. Some sessions are also timely in scope. For example, when an interdisciplinary speaker is scheduled to visit, the group reads one to two of their published works in advance to prepare for the lecture. And, prior to onset of spring conferences, such as Truman’s Student Research Conference and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), there is a session focusing on preparing for conference presentations.
