Student Participants

Students from Truman State University, Metropolitan Community Colleges, Moberly Area Community College and St. Charles Community College participate in The Next STEP initiatives in a variety of capacities. All students are eligible to participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience. Only community college transfer students may apply for the Bridge Program. Both groups of students will be involved with Academic Tutoring, while only current Truman State University students are eligible to be Student Preceptors.

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

Applications for the 2007 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience will be available December 1 with a closing date of February 1, 2007.

Bridge Program

Applications for the Bridge Program for transfer students are available online and reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants must be admitted to Truman State University before they can be enrolled in The Next STEP Bridge Program. Please begin the application process by visiting Truman State University’s Transfer Student website.

Preference for scholarship assistance is given to students who have applied to the University and Bridge program by April 15. Please visit Truman State University’s Financial Aid website for more information.

Academic Tutoring

Truman Students who have undergone training and orientation serve as tutors for students in the Bridge Program.  All students participating in the Bridge Program can receive Free Tutoring.

Student Preceptors

Upper-level students assist with the Bridge Week course by serving as Student Preceptors. They work closely with Truman faculty to provide a positive and supportive environment for Bridge transfer students.
