Dr. David McCurdy
Research Interests
Analytical Chemistry, Methods for measurement of trace level elements in environmental samples, plasma spectroscopy, atomic spectroscopy, preparation of samples for chemical analysis, and quality assurance in chemical measurements.
Biographical Sketch
Dr. McCurdy is an analytical chemist. He holds an A.S. degree from Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, IA (1977); a B.S. in chemistry from Northwest Missouri State University (1979); and a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from Kansas State University, with specialization in atomic spectroscopy (1987). He worked for 4 years prior to the pursuit of his Ph.D. degree as the quality assurance manager for Streck Laboratories in Omaha, NE.
Dr. McCurdy has been a member of the faculty at Truman State since 1987, and currently holds the rank of Professor of chemistry. He has worked on research projects with more than 150 students in his 20+ years at Truman.
