Chemical Analysis of Fish and Surface Water
Project Description
This project is part of a larger chemistry and biology project to help understand the health of our local watershed. The student involved in this part of the project will analyze the organic chemical contamination of several local lakes. The student will determine the levels of pesticides and other persistent organic pollutants in the lake water, fish and sediment. Other chemical tests including the determination of nutrient levels in the lakes may also be required.
Background Needed
The student involved in this project should have completed a two semester sequence of general chemistry and the associated labs. A course in quantitative analysis is preferred but not required.
