Synthesis of Tin Organometallic Clusters
Project Description
With this project, you'll be synthesizing tin organometallic clusters that, due to the Lewis Acidic nature of the tin atoms, will be able to coordinate and encapsulate small anions such as the chloride anion. You will learn some basic organic synthesis, how to manipulate materials in an inert atmosphere, and several characterization techniques.

Background Needed
This is primarily a synthetic project, so good lab skills are a must. Experience in oganic synthesis is a plus, but the techniques we'll be using aren't usually covered in an organic course, so you'll be learning what you need to learn as we go along.
