The Next STEP includes a coordinated workshop series as part of the academic year Undergraduate Research Program. The workshop series is designed for, and open to, all Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics majors and faculty. Students who participated in the previous Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, either on- or off-campus, are required to attend. Workshops are offered monthly, and each workshop focuses on a particular topic. For example, topics may include keeping a research notebook, conduction interdisciplinary research, research ethics, women and underrepresented groups in science and math, writing grant proposals, writing a curriculum vitae, and preparing for conference presentations. Sessions are also dedicated to project updates from student researchers and reviewing the work of visiting scholars and presenters.
