Students participating in The Next STEP have the opportunity to participate in field trips to visit the off-campus partner institutions. Three field trips per year are typically scheduled, once during the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience and twice during the academic year (fall semester and spring semesters). The goals for these visits are to provide students with opportunities to learn about multidisciplinary research topics and techniques, to learn about postgraduate study and career opportunities, and to meet and interact directly with some of the leading researchers in Missouri and the region.
As speakers come to Truman State University, students prepare for their visits by reviewing past research as part of the coordinated workshop series. Students have the opportunity to meet and visit directly with visiting scholars and presenters.
