Prospective Scholars

The Truman State University Missouri Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in STEM (MOLSAMP) Program is now recruiting students!

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a US citizen or permanent resident;
  • pursue a Truman degree in Agriculture Science, Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Statistics; and
  • complete and agree to the Program Contract.

Students who are selected to be Truman MOLSAMP Scholars will receive:

  • $1,000 stipend (freshmen and sophomores) or $2,500 stipend (returning juniors and seniors)
  • STEM-specific advising and tutoring;
  • academic and professional development opportunities;
  • career planning and awareness advice;
  • opportunities to participate in MOLSAMP programming throughout the state (including research, conferences, and bridge programs); and
  • access to a statewide community of MOLSAMP scholars, alumni, faculty and staff.

To remain eligible for the program, Truman MOLSAMP Scholars must:

  • complete STEM 105 Inquiry Seminar during the fall of their sophomore or junior year;
  • continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree in science or math, maintaining a 2.3 GPA or above and passing all science and math courses with a C or higher;
  • accept academic support offered by the STEP office, including regular meetings with the Academic Advisor;
  • apply to summer research opportunities; and
  • attend and participate fully in related program activities.
